The Honor 200 Pro redefines affordability for premium smartphones, offering cutting-edge specs and features that rival more expensive competitors.

Honor is bringing a lot of variety with their smartphone line-up, offering more than one version of their key devices. The Honor 200 Pro might fall under the flagship Magic series, but there are very little cutbacks on this device, providing a premium experience without the top-tier price.

Specs-wise, the 200 Pro features a stunning 6,78-inch display (1 224 x 2 700 pixels) that’s bright, vivid, and an ease to use thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. Swiping around is a breeze and there is no slowdown or hiccups with general operation.

In terms of technical grunt, you get 12 GB of RAM, 512 GB of internal storage, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen3 chipset (the same that’s in Honor’s more expensive devices), and a 3 GHz Octa Core Processor.

There’s also a super-fast fingerprint sensor in the display, facial recognition, and built-in AI capabilities, but the lack of a headphone jack will still pose a problem for those who prefer their wired headphones.

Photography lovers and vloggers will appreciate that the 200 Pro features a powerful triple camera setup (50 MP main camera, 50 MP telephoto and 12 MP Ultra Wide) that piggybacks on the powerful H9000 Ultra-Large Image Sensor. The result is colourful and detailed photographs that need little to no tinkering, so if you just want a point-and-shoot type smartphone, this is it.

Throw in the extras like quick wireless charging and a sizeable battery, and the Honor 200 Pro, while not necessarily ‘cheap’, gives quite a lot for its price-tag.

The Honor 200 Pro retails for R17 299. It scores 5 out of 5.
