OPPO has launched its new Watch X2 in South Africa, an impressive wearable that elevates health monitoring and rugged style for a demanding local market.
The standout feature of the X2 is its 60-second Health Check-In, which now includes arterial-stiffness and vascular-age analysis. By placing a finger on the crown, users receive a fast readout tracking vascular elasticity alongside heart rate, blood-oxygen, sleep and body temperature.
This makes the X2 one of the first mainstream smartwatches to deliver daily arterial-stiffness insight at home.

Bigger, brighter, faster
It builds on OPPO’s previous Watch X by refining what already worked. The screen has grown by roughly 10%, from about 1,36-inch to 1,5-inch, and is far brighter – peaking at 2 200 nits, which is more than double that of the X. That ensures readability even in bright sunlight.
Internally, OPPO has upgraded to a dual-chip setup: the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5, now paired with a more efficient microcontroller. The latter provides roughly 100% faster CPU and 300% faster NPU performance over the older watch.

Beefier body and battery
At the same time, silico-carbon battery technology delivers up to five days in Smart mode and up to 16 days in Power-Saver mode, writes smartmobilegear.com. In practice, the X managed just three to four days of use, so five days is a welcome improvement.
The case materials and build are also refreshed. The Watch X2 combines a stainless-steel body with a titanium-alloy bezel, and sapphire crystal glass with IP68/5ATM certification. This brings a more premium feel as well as outdoor toughness (cadenaser.com). The rotating pyramid-textured crown adds tactile finesse.

Improved GPS
The GPS has been upgraded too. Dual-frequency, multi-constellation tracking helps reduce positional errors, which might just save you the embarrassment of being rescued from Table Mountain.
Some outdoors reviewers have noted lock-on times under 5 seconds and accurate route mapping comparable to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.
OPPO has also introduced new sensors: 8-channel PPG heart-rate, 16-channel SpO₂, wrist temperature and the single-lead ECG electrode needed for those arterial stiffness measurements.

Premium watches, beware!
The older Watch X had fewer sensors, a softer aesthetic, lower brightness, shorter battery and less robust build. The X2’s improvements extend to design, health tracking, processor speed, battery and outdoors performance. It’s a better watch in every way.
While the OPPO X2 carries a slightly more premium price tag of R7 000, it now offers meaningful daily health metrics, top-tier materials, and Wear OS 5 compatibility. That puts it in serious contention among high-end smartwatches in the local market.
