The latest smartphone from China is the Honor X9c, a midrange phone that offers some premium-like features without shoving an eye-watering price-tag in your face.
When it comes to bang for your buck in the Android phone market, Honor has been doing some pretty good things, producing devices that often outshine ‘bigger’ brands on the market.
The latest from the Chinese company, the X9c (R10 999), is a midrange phone that offers some premium-like features without an eye-watering price-tag.
Under the hood, the X9c packs 12GBs of RAM, 256GBs of storage, and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor. While it isn’t the cutting edge of processors, this is more than enough that any average user requires. It allows the user to run multiple apps simultaneously without a hint of slowdown, browse seamlessly, and decent gaming is possible thanks to its Adreno 710 GPU.
Durability is something that Honor has been focusing on, and the X9c brings this to the forefront. An ultra-tempered glass display can survive serious knocks without breaking and its plastic and titanium body is as tough as it is pretty.
The device is also IP65M dust-tight and water-resistant, and the phone (impressively) survived a full 30-second dip in a basin.
The X9c also houses a 6,78-inch Eye-comfort OLED Display, which supports 1,07 billion colours and a 1,5K resolution. It’s really clear and bright (up to 4000nits) without being oversaturated, works well in the glare of the sunlight, and is incredibly responsive thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate.
For snap-crazy users, the X9c includes a solid 108MP Ultra-sensing Camera (featuring a 1/1,67-inch sensor) that delivers quick, sharp, and colour-correct photos, with a notably impressive autofocus that works within a second.
The Honor X9c is a great device for someone looking for a mid-tier phone that punches above its weight. The Honor X9c retail price starts at R10 999 and it comes in two colours: Titanium Black and Jade Cyan.
